The Hibiscus Blooms for One Day then Closes its Petals
A Fleeting Beauty
The hibiscus blooms for one day and then closes its petals in the evening and doesn’t open them again. Outside my front door at the rental house, where I lived in when I first arrived in Florida, there were three Hibiscus bushes. Their blooms were peach with red centers. Throughout most of the year they bloomed profusely. My bushes were so full of blooms that there was never a short supply of these lovely tropical flowers.

That is when I fell in love with the Hibiscus plant. They were so different than anything that I was familiar with growing up in Ohio. These exotic colorful plants come in an array of colors. I am particularly drawn to them because of that. That is what I looked for as I chose the photographs for reference when I was ready to paint these lovely plants.
This week
This week I finished the last of the seven small 7 x 10-inch paintings. I am sharing them below so you have a sneak peak of the collection. There are three more paintings in the series. A 12 x 12-inch painting and two 10 x 14-inch paintings.
